Filmmaking department organized a lighting workshop with Hayri Çölaşan, who is a cameraman and director of photography. Hayri Çölaşan set lighting practically with students at the afternoon session after he shared information about light and color in movies with several examples at the workshop, which realized at Prof. Dr. Abdullah Demirtaş Conference Hall.
Çölaşan, who worked as a lighting chef for many productions at TRT Ankara at between 1987 – 1997, has been assigned as a cameraman at the same institution at between 2001 – 2018. The artist, still working as a cameraman and being assigned as a jury member at several film festivals, provides training as a guest speaker on light and image at universities.
Çölaşan, firstly explaining roles of light in films to Filmmaking students, and exemplifying local short films, told sorts of current lights. He, after mentioning the effects of different colors on the audience, ended morning session with answering students’ several questions.
The artist, demonstrating how to make low budget lighting equipment with examples, demonstrated light filters and components practically afterward, in the second half of the workshop. Program students, setting lights with Hayri Çölaşan, have been informed about sorts of lighting, which can be used in their film projects. Hayri Çölaşan’s workshop ended with students’ questions after he had shared his contact information for helping them for several subjects in their film projects.
